VF1807090083 EN revision 72
9.2. Possible detector contamination
Detector contamination is indicated if the permitted background limit is exceeded when the previous
measurement ended with a contamination finding. The state is signalled by a symbol at the given detector. In
such a case, the detector must be decontaminated or replaced (the light-tight foil could be damaged). The
instrument will be put into an "Out of service" state and require a service intervention.

Decontamination may be carried out only by the manufacturer, service organization trained by
the manufacturer, or the user's staff trained by the manufacturer.
Improper decontamination may lead to damage to the instrument and/or spread of
contamination to surrounding areas.
Carry out decontamination only on switched-off instrument.
The hand and foot detectors can be decontaminated with standard decontamination solutions.
Wipe the detector protective grid gently with a damp (not wet) cloth dipped in a decontamination
solution.
If the contamination is not successfully removed in the first step, follow the instructions in the
Service manual.
ATTENTION - The light-tight foil is very susceptible to mechanical damage. Do not touch it with
sharp objects and do not apply excessive pressure.
