Maintenance and care of the instrument

Maintenance and care of the instrument
When performing maintenance and care of the instrument, follow the requirements
and principles of work safety, Chapter 2.1.
8.1. Daily maintenance
Inspect the instrument visually.
Where necessary, clean the protective foils of the foot detectors (see Chapter 8.4).
Where necessary, clean the metal tray for the hand detectors
(see Chapter 8.5).
Check the measured background (see Chapter 6.4.2). Where the increased count rate is detected
from the background, the light-tight foil of the detector can be damaged or the detector can be
contaminated.
The “ratio” (ratio between the minimum settable alarm and the set alarm) increases with increasing
contamination of the detector, see Chapter 6.4.2. If the “ratio” is 100%, the instrument is unable
to measure. For details, see Chapter 9.
8.2. Quarterly maintenance
Check the switches of the foot detector grids and lubricate them if required (see Chapter 8.6). The
movable parts in hand detector holders are not lubricated to prevent dust from sticking.
RECOMMENDATION OF THE MANUFACTURER:
– Check the response of individual detectors using the appropriate CRM, see Chapter 6.5.8.
8.3. Annual and multi-annual maintenance
Ensure inspection of the whole instrument and replacement of worn-out spare parts if necessary.
This inspection and replacement of spare parts shall be carried out by a service organization trained
by the manufacturer or user's employees trained by the manufacturer.
If the instrument is in permanent operation (permanently powered), we recommend you to
exchange the PLC backup battery approximately once every five years. When the instrument is
permanently out of service (the instrument is stored), we recommend you to exchange the PLC
backup battery once a year.
This applies only to vertical hand detectors variants.
