Equipment and Installation
To charge the tablet:
1. Connect the micro-USB connecter of the supplied USB cable to the tablet.
2. Connect the USB connecter of the supplied USB cable to the supplied adapter.
3. Connect the adapter to a standard wall outlet.
Network Connections
All of the components of the EyeRefract system (EyeRefract unit, tablet, chart monitor, near-
vision target, and lens meter) interact with one another through a dedicated local network. This
network is created and managed by the supplied router. The EyeRefract unit is connected to
this router by means of a network cable, while the other components connect wirelessly via
WiFi.
In addition to managing the dedicated network, the router can also act as a bridge to an external
local network, such as an office LAN. When the router is connected to an external local
network, the system can be configured to share refraction data with the computers and other
devices in that network. It can even transmit refraction data in the XML format used by EMR
practice software, thus seamlessly integrating refraction data from the EyeRefract system with
the normal flow of data in offices employing this software.
All of the supplied components of the system are preconfigured to connect to the dedicated
network. Therefore, in most cases, it is not necessary to manually configure them.
To connect the EyeRefract unit to the system's dedicated local network:
1. Connect one end of a supplied network cable to one of the network ports on the unit.
Note: The network ports of the EyeRefract are located on the connection panel on the
rear of the unit (#9 in the illustration above). The network cable should be connected to
the right port on the unit.
2. Connect the other end of the network cable to a network port on the router.
