Attaching the Pump Interface Cable and Power Cord 31
RS-232 Interface Connector
Enables the 600 controller to communicate with a Waters 746 Data Module. The RS-232
interface transmits commands and report information from the 600E system to the 746
data module. No chromatographic data is transmitted.

Making RS-232 Connections with the Waters 746 Data Module.
Screw Terminals
Provide electrical connections to or from external devices. External devices can include:
Non-IEEE-488 based autosamplers (using the Inject and Hold screw terminals)
Non-IEEE-488 detectors (using the Inject, Stop Flow, and S1 through S4 screw
terminals)
Waters 746 Data Module (using the Inject, Pressure, and Chart screw terminals)
Chart recorder (using the Pressure and Chart screw terminals)
Automated switching valves (using the S1 through S4 and Aux +12 V screw
terminals)

3.2 Attaching the Pump Interface Cable and Power
Cord
This section covers the basic connections required to use the 600E system. It covers:
Attaching the pump interface cable

Attaching the Pump Interface Cable
1. Power down the 600 controller power.
STOP
Attention: To avoid damaging the 600 controller and/or pump, make sure the 600
controller power switch is turned off before performing this procedure.
