Error Messages
The control panel displays messages when there is an error. See Table 15 for LCD errors, the
possible causes, and the recommended solutions.

The ERROR light flashes.
The printhead was replaced with
one that is not a genuine Zebra™
printhead.
Install a genuine Zebra™ printhead.
The Early Warning for
Maintenance feature is enabled,
and the printhead has reached the
end of the specified interval for
cleaning. See
Early Warning for
Maintenance on page 82 for more
information.
1. Clean the printhead.
2. On the control panel, go to the
HEAD
CLEANED? menu item.
3. Press PLUS to select YES to reset
the Early Warning for Maintenance
printhead cleaning counter.
The print engine stops; the
ERROR light flashes.
The printhead is not fully closed. Close printhead completely.
The head open sensor is not
working properly.
Call a service technician.
The print engine stops; the
MEDIA light is on; the
ERROR light flashes.
The media is not loaded or is
loaded incorrectly.
Load media correctly. See Load Ribbon
and Media on page 62.
Misaligned media sensor. Check position of the media sensor.
The print engine is set for
noncontinuous media, but
continuous media is loaded.
Install proper media type, or reset print
engine for current media type and
perform calibration.
