• Turn off the microscope illumination system or cover the patient’s eye
during pauses in surgery.
Maximum radiation exposure
The use of the blue barrier filter (retina protection filter)increases the
recommended exposure time by a factor of 5 compared with the values
specified below.
Red reflex illumination (stereo coaxial illumination)
Surrounding field illumination
The illumination system of the surgical microscope contains a UV blocking
filter as a standard feature.
This helps the surgeon to reduce the risk of phototoxic retinal injury in the
patient.
