Hostinabroadcastdomainusuallysetsadefaultgatewayasthe
nexthopofroutepackets.Thehostinthebroadcastdomaincan-
notcommunicatewiththehostinanothernetworkunlessthede-
faultgatewayworksnormally.T oavoidthesinglepointoffailure
causedbythedefaultgateway,multiplerouterinterfacesarecon-
guredinthebroadcastdomainandruntheVirtualRouterRedun-
dancyProtocol(VRRP)intheserouters.
VRRPisusedtoconguremultiplerouterinterfacesinabroadcast
domainintoagrouptoformavirtualrouterandassignsanIP
addresstotheroutertofunctionasitsinterfaceaddress.This
interfaceaddressmaybetheaddressofoneofrouterinterfaces
orthethirdpartyaddress.
Therouterisusedasthemasterrouterifitsinterfaceaddressis
usedandotherroutersareusedasthebackupones.Therouter
withhighpriorityisusedasthemasterrouterifthethirdparty
addressisused.Iftworoutershavethesamepriority,theone
withthegreaterinterfaceaddresswins.ForZXR105900/5200,if
thetworoutersprioritiesaresame,masterapplypriorityrule.
SettheIPaddressofthevirtualroutertogatewayonthehost
inthisbroadcastdomain.Themasterrouterisreplacedwith
thebackuprouterwiththehighestpriorityifthemasterrouter
isfaulty,withoutaffectingthehostinthisdomain.Thehostin
thisdomaincannotcommunicatewithoutsideworldonlywhenall
routersintheVRRPgroupworkabnormally.
Theserouterscanbeconguredintomultiplegroupsformutual
backup.ThehostsinthedomainusedifferentIPaddressesas
gatewaytoimplementdataloadbalance.
