Introduction
Switchstacksystemmeansthecollectionofmultipleswitches
whichisimplementedbyconnectingtheswitchstackportwith
stackcable.Themultipleswitchesinstacksystemworktogether
asoneswitch.Layer2andLayer3protocolsactasanentityin
thenetwork.59seriesswitchsupportatmoststackof9devices
inwhichoneswitchismaindevicethatcancongureandmanage
allmembersinstacksystem.
Allthefeaturesthatmainswitchsupportscanbesupportedin
stacksystem.Mainswitchsavescongurationleofstacksystem.
Whencongurationissaved,congurationllwillbecopiedtoall
stackmemberforbackup.Whenstacksystemactsaslayer3
device,theMACaddressofstacksystemistheuniqueIDinthe
network.TheMACaddressofmaindeviceinstacksystemisthat
ofthewholestacksystem.Eachstackmemberisidentiedbyits
stackmemberID.
Anyoneofstackmemberscanbemaindevice.Whenmainde-
viceisn’tapplicable,anewmaindevicewillbedesignatedamong
othermemberdevicesaccordingtoaspecicrule.Therulewill
beintroducedasfollows.
StacksystemcanbemanagedwithaIPaddresswhichisnotre-
latedtospecicmaindeviceandotherstackmembersbutisa
systemlevelconguration.Evenifmaindeviceorotherstack
membersleaveformstacksystem,stacksystemcanbemanaged
withthisIPaddress.
Therearetwomodesformanagingstacksystem:
