bootmodetobootingfromFlash,whenBootpathchangesto
/ash/img/zxr10.zarautomatically.
Note:
canalsochangethebootmodetobootingformFlashwiththe
nvramimgfile-locationlocalcommandintheglobalcong-
urationmode.
10.Type@atthepromptZXR10Boot:andpressENTERtoboot
thesystemwiththenewversionintheFlash.
11.Whenthesystemisbootedsuccessfully,checktherunningver-
siontoconrmthesuccessofupgrade.
UpgradingtheVersionatNormality
Upgradethesoftwareversioninseveraldifferentwayswhenthe
switchisworkingproperly,includingcopyingtheversiontothe
switchactingasanFTP/TFTPclientandremoteupgradeoverFTP .
Thelocalupgradeprocedureisasfollowswhentheswitchserving
asanFTPclient.
1.ConnecttheZXR105900/5200’sconsoleport(onthemain
controlboard)totheserialportofthebackgroundhostwitha
consolecableattachedtotheswitch;connectthemanagement
Ethernetport(10/100MEthernetportonthemaincontrol
board)tothebackgroundhost’snetworkportwithastraight
throughnetworkcable.Makesurethatbothconnectionsare
correct.
2.Setthebackgroundhostforupgradetobeinthenetworkseg-
mentastheswitch’smanagementEthernetport,sothatthe
backgroundhostcanpingthemanagementEthernetport.
3.RefertoFTP/TFTPOverview,StartthebackgroundFTPserver
4.Viewtherunningversion.
5.UseDeletecommandtotheoldversionlefromtheFlash’s
IMGdirectorywiththedeletecommand.Ifthereisenough
spaceintheFlash,youcanalsoreservetheoldversionwith
anothername.
6.CopythenewversionleonthebackgroundFTPservertothe
Flash’sIMGdirectorywiththelenameaszxr10.zar .
7.CheckforthenewversionleintheFlash’sIMGdirectory.If
thenewversionleisnotfound,thecopyfailed.Theuser
mustrepeatstep5tocopytheversionagain.
8.Whenthesystemisrebootedsuccessfully,checktherunning
versiontoconrmthesuccessofupgrade.
