Traditionalnetworksprovidebest-effortservice,treatingallpack-
etsidenticallyandhandlingthemwiththerstin,rstout(FIFO)
policy.Thisservicepolicydeliversthepacketstotheirdestination
asitcan,withoutanyassuranceandguaranteeforreliabilityand
deliverydelay,andsoonforpacketforwarding.
Withthecontinuousemergenceofnewapplicationsanewrequire-
mentfornetworkservicequalityisraisedbecausethetraditional
networkatthebesteffortcannotsatisfytherequirementforap-
plications.Forexample,theusercannotusetheVoIPserviceand
real-timeimagetransmissionnormallyifpackettransferdelayis
toolong.Tosolvetheproblem,providethesystemwiththecapa-
bilityofsupportingQoS.
QoSisdesignedtoprovidedifferentqualitiesofservicefordiffer-
entdemandsfromvariousapplications,suchas,providingspecic
bandwidth,reducingpacketlossratio,shorteningpackettransfer
delayanddelay-jitter .Toachievetheabovepurposes,QoSoffers
thefollowingfunctions:
