In order to make IED work for single phase power system, the following steps to
be performed (see Figure
21):
1.
Connect IL1 current to the first and third inputs of the SMAI function block.
Set CT ratio for this analogue input accordingly (e.g. 300A/1A).
2.
Connect UL1 voltage to the first and third inputs of the SMAI function block.
Set VT ratio for this analogue input accordingly (e.g. 25kV/100V).
When such configuration is made within ACT tool using only two available
analogue input signals (i.e. UL1 and IL1), the preprocessing block will perform the
following:
Quantities for the first phase (i.e. UL1 and IL1) will be directly measured from
the TRM
Quantities for the second phase (i.e. UL2 and IL2) will be forced to zero value
Phase-to-phase values (i.e. UL1L2 and IL1L2 ) will be directly measured from
the TRM but they will have identical values as quantities for the first phase
Positive sequence quantities (i.e. U1 and I1 ) will be forced to zero
unconditionally
Zero sequence quantities (i.e. 2Uo and 2Io ) will be forced to zero
unconditionally
Note that in such installations, distance or under-impedance protection can only use
L1-L2 measurement loop which will then effectively measure impedance Z=UL1/
IL1. The directional overcurrent protection can also be used. Directional and non-
directional earth fault overcurrent protections and residual overvoltage protection
shall not be used in such installations. All other backup protection and
measurement functions can be used.
