SIDE SUPPORT
The lateral support has the function of supporting the ferrule during the curving, it also helps
to handle and guide the plate avoiding problems due to weight and thickness.
In the case of thin sheet metal work and at the same time with large diameters, the stability
of the piece represents a problem: the difficulties are found in keeping the required radius
unchanged. The presence of the lateral support is therefore an advantage for both stability
and staff safety.
In the figrure below, construction line shows the desired radius, solid line shows the radius
obtained without the side support. ( FIGURE 1 )
