Example Graphics
Many of the gures included in this Pilot’s Guide are screen shots of the EFD 1000 PRO
PFD and may include optional EFD 1000 VFR PFD features in the graphic. The example
graphics and screen shots used throughout this Pilot’s Guide are provided for reference
only and are taken from a simulated ight. They should not be used for actual ights.
Pilot Familiarity
While the PFD is reasonably intuitive and easy to use, some familiarity with EFD 1000
VFR Electronic Flight Instrument Systems (EFIS) is required. Aspen Avionics strongly
recommends that new users of the PFD get some dual instruction from an experienced
instrument CFI, and spend some time becoming familiar with the VFR PFD.
VFR Overview
The EFD system is built around the EFD 1000 PFD which replaces a vertical pair of your
six primary ight instruments. The VFR PFD is IFR capable with limitations.
VFR / MFD Compatibility
Aspen oers an MFD 500 and MFD 1000. The VFR PFD is only compatible with the
MFD500.
