Although the input air must be free of oil and water, two extra filters
are built into the SilverWriter . These filters should be checked monthly. A
viewing glass may show if water or oil has entered. After shutting off
the air, the filters can be removed for closer examination.
Warning
When you don't switch off the compressed air ,any oil and water - present -
will be projected into the environment when you remove the filters !
Filter Unit Maintenance Procedure
- Switch OFF the power from the machine.
- Remove the left side cover plate .
- Switch OFF compressed air by turning the valve 1/4 turn to the right
- Wait until all noise from escaping air has stopped and the manometer
reading has dropped to 0.
- Check status filters.
- Remove filters by turning 1/8 turn to the left (bayonet lock).
- Clean filters. Remove water and oil, if present.
- Put filters back (1/8 turn to the right, with bayonet lock).
- Switch on compressed air by turning the valve 1/4 turn to the left.
- Verify the pressure (6 bar) on the manometer.
- Install the cover in place (push until click is heard).
Caution
When a lot of water or oil is found inside the filter, you should
examine your compressor, drier and compressed air lines outside the
SilverWriter. In case of suspected problems on the
Imagesetter, you should shutdown the machine completely and
call ManiaBarco for support.
