Field Service Manual December 2003

1. Introduction
The RSF Measuring Rule is mounted directly onto a support which is aligned with the
granite into the carriage-direction. In this way, it is very easy to replacc a broken
rneasuring rule : one simply loosens 6 bolts and interchanges the broken rule for a
new one.

3. Installation method
Make sure that the carriage is mounted on the granite in the usual way.
Put a measuring gauge on the carriage, pointing as vertical as possible towards
G206530. Put the compressed air on the carriage, and allign G206530 so that
faces A and B are parallel up to +/- 0.01 mm (maximum 0.02 mm difference on
the measuring gauge ).
Then fasten G206530 to the granite with the 7 bolts M4 x 35.
Mount G210460 on G206530 with the 5 bolts M4 x 25.
Position G206520 vertically by holding a flat surfacc on face A. Press G206520
and the moving part of the measuring rule (Measuring Head) simultaneously
against your flat surface, and then fasten G206520 on the carriage. In this way,
both parts of the measuring rule are well aligned.
Now, fasten the Measuring Head ( moving part of the measuring rule) on
G206520 and make sure that the gap between the body of the measuring rule
and the measuring head ( Gap "C" ) is exactly 1 mm. For this purpose one can best
use a feeling gauge ( thickness plate ) of 1 mm. Fasten the 2 bolts and verify once
again if you still have a gap of 1 mm.
Mount the Maccon-Board into the rack and connect the connector of the
measuring rule to the front of this board.
Make some movements (SRCHDX, SKIPA, SKIPR, RAMP, ...) with the carriage
to verify if the measuring rule functions properly.
4. Further technical information
Mechanical pitch between the gradation lines on the measuring scale: 10.16
micron (Grating Pitch)
Voltage Supply + 5 V +/- 5% ( maximum current = 100 mA)
