3.24 Test by an technical expert
The machine must be tested by an technical expert before the initial startup
and at least once a year.
An technical expert is someone who, by virtue of their technical training and
experience, has sufficient knowledge in the field of the machines, devices
and systems, and is sufficiently familiar with the relevant statutory occupa‐
tional health and safety regulations, accident prevention regulations, direc‐
tives and generally recognized rules of sound engineering practice that they
are able to assess the safe working condition of machine, devices and sys‐
tems.
The test results shall be documented and stored until the next test. A copy
shall be kept on the machine.
3.25 Fire protection
Important prerequisites for correct fire protection:
n Keep all objects clean and tidy.
n Ensure that all devices and implements are in perfect operating condi‐
tion.
n Prohibition on fire and naked flames.
n Prohibition on dangerous activities involving fire.
n Flammable liquids and objects must not be located on hot machine
parts.
