5.1 Use and Function
NightSHADE LB 983 is an effective Imaging System for luminescence and fluorescence meas-
urements. It is used to acquire and evaluate images in the macro and micro area in a large in-
tensity range.
The system is so flexible that the camera can be used outside the acquisition chamber for mi-
croscope applications, for fluorescence measurements by using UV lamps or the optional white
light source with goose neck light guide.
If you are working with UV lamps or
transilluminators, please observe the relevant
safety precautions (face protection mask or eye
protection)
NightSHADE LB 985 includes the following compo-
nents:
o Acquisition device including the transport mechanism with camera and lens and
the electronics. The high-resolution CCD camera and the special wide open lens
guarantee excellent sensitivity and image quality.
o The control of the acquisition system and the image processing and evaluation
take place under control of the effective software system indiGO. The easy-to-
use and clearly structured Windows software covers the entire spectrum of image
processing functions.
o The PC system including a standard computer (Pentium 4
®
or other processor)
with high-resolution monitor. We recommend a resolution of at least 1024x768 pix-
els.
o Image output to any Windows printer (laser or ink-jet printer) or video printer.
