The scale is in view after the frequency is tuned if NPS are not shown. If either
LNAV or VNAV is engaged, or LNAV is armed, the NPS indications remain in
view until localizer capture.
At low radio altitudes with the autopilot or flight director engaged, the pointer
flashes to indicate excessive localizer deviation.
At low altitudes, with LNAV engaged and LOC armed, the pointer flashes if the
localizer is not captured.
The pointer indicates the glideslope position relative to the airplane, and is:
• unfilled diamond when it appears
• in view when the glideslope signal is received
• filled diamond when within 2 1/2 dots from the scale center

HUD Expanded Localizer Indications
[Option – Autopilot or Flight Director on]
Displays when the autopilot or flight director is in LOC mode and the airplane is
close to the runway center line. Provides a more sensitive display.
[Option – HUD low visibility takeoff]
Expanded localizer indications also display during HUD low visibility takeoff
operations.
A rectangle equals 1/2 dot deviation.
