Initial Configuration Using the Command Prompt
T To Change the Default Password
If the default password “pm8” is still in use, change the admin password.
Important: Changing the default password closes a security hole that could be easily
exploited.
1. Login to the AlterPath PM.
Use the factory default username/password admin/pm8. A maximum of
eight characters (not case sensitive) is allowed.
2. Enter the passwd command.
3. Enter a new password when prompted.
T To Create Users Using the adduser
Command
1. Login to the AlterPath PM.
The PM prompt appears
2. Enter the
adduser command followed by the new username and enter
the password when prompted.
pm> passwd
Password: <new password>
Re-enter password: <new password>
Username/password set for user admin.
pm>

pm> adduser jane
Password:
Re-enter password:
Username/password set for user jane.
