Please disable MAID function if the disk read-write operation is frequent. Otherwise, the
frequent boot up and stop operation is going to reduce disk life span.
3.4.1.1.4 Add hotspare disk
This series product support global hotspare disk. That is to say, the whole RAID groups share
hotspare disk. It only occupies the physical disk space when it is running. When any disk of the
RAID group is malfunction, the hotspare disk can automatically replace it.
In Figure 3-17, click add hot swap disk button, you can see an interface is shown as in Figure
3-19.
Here you can view idle disk list. You can click the select button to select the hot spare disk. Then
you can click save button to exit.
Note
One device can max have four hotspare disks.
The hotspare disk on the host can not replace the malfunction disk function from the
connected disk array enclosure and vice versa.
