Tips for obtaining bladder volume
If fanning too fast or too slow:
Maintain consistent pace and pressure during the scan

As a guideline, a complete fan should take around three to five seconds.
If greater than symbol appears along with the volume measurement:
1. Center the bladder in the ultrasound image on the screen.
2. Fan the probe toward one hip until you hear the sound indicator and see an arrow, then fan back toward the
other hip until a second sound is heard to capture the entire bladder (FIGURE 23.
Greater than symbol).

3. Anchor the pivot point to ensure that the probe does not slide in any direction while fanning.
