If the software installation fails
If the NAS software installation fails, the system should display one or more error
messages with resolution instructions. Start by correcting any problems indicated by
error messages.
Note: Chapter 10, “Complete Phase 3 Installation,” provides more information about the
Proactive Health Check (PAHC) feature that uses the nas_checkup command.
Reboot the Control Station if the installation fails before you see this prompt:
Continue with EMC NAS Installation [yes or no], .
The setup script will restart. You need not delete or re-create the control LUNs or
hypervolumes.
If the installation fails after the following prompt, complete the following steps for the
array type that you are using:
Continue with EMC NAS Installation [yes or no], .
For a VNX boot
array
If the installation fails:
1. Use Navisphere Manager or the Navisphere CLI to unbind the control LUNs and
remove the empty RAID group.
2. If manually configuring the VNX, recreate the RAID group and control LUNs.
Refer to “Create control LUNs on VNX array” on page 237.
3. Reinstall the NAS and Control Station software.
For a Symmetrix
boot array
If the installation fails:
1. Have the EMC Symmetrix administrator delete and re-create the system
hypervolumes.
2. Reinstall the NAS and Control Station software.
