Create control LUNs on VNX array
The control LUNs store the blade software, log files, and configuration information
on the array. For VNX VG2/VG8 gateways booting from a VNX array, you must
create six control LUNs on four unused disks.
If the array is using a FLARE version prior to Release 30, you must use Navisphere
Manager (not Unisphere) to perform these tasks. Appendix I, “Navisphere
Manager procedures,”provides the instructions for performing required tasks by
using Navisphere Manager.
As part of creating the control LUNs on a VNX array, you will perform the following
tasks:
1. “Create storage group” on page 238
2. “Create RAID group for control LUNs” on page 239
3. “Create control LUNs” on page 240
4. “Add control LUNs to storage group” on page 242
5. “Create hot spare disk” on page 245
6. “Verify blade port registration” on page 246
7. “Add gateway hostname to storage group” on page 249
8. “Return to File OE installation” on page 250
Note: For Symmetrix arrays (DMX, VMAX, and VMAXe), the system hypervolumes are
created by EMC. Verify the hypervolumes have been created, and go to “Return to File OE
installation” on page 250.
