Cable Connections from Fibre Channel Switch to Storage

Connecting a CLARiiON CX3-80 array
Each CLARiiON CX3-80 SP has four SAN ports per SP. If all of the SAN ports on the
array are already connected to the fabric, you need not change these connections. If
the array has two available ports on each SP, the recommended practice is to cable
these ports to the switches and dedicate them to the VNX gateway system.
If you are using two switches to connect a CLARiiON CX3-80 array, connect the
cables as shown in Figure 167:
Figure 167 CLARiiON CX3-80 connected to two switches for high availability
1. Connect SP A port 0 Fibre to switch A.
2. Connect SP B port 0 Fibre to switch B.
3. Connect SP A port 1 Fibre to switch B.
4. Connect SP B port 1 Fibre to switch A.
5. Record which SP ports you connected to which switch ports using the “FC/FCoE
cabling worksheet” on page 273.
Note: If you did not use the default SP and FC switch cabling, you must manually select the FC
switch ports the array will use in “Step 2: Install latest File OE on CS 0” on page 139.
