Before Installing
EMC CONFIDENTIAL
Direct-connected
systems with VNX
arrays
If you are connecting the VNX gateway to a direct-connected VNX array:
â—† Verify that the array being used is already installed and configured. If you are
installing a new array with the VNX gateway, complete the array installation first.
â—† Check the EMC E-Lab Interoperability Navigator on Powerlink to verify that the
array is a supported model. Verify that the required array software versions are
installed.
â—† Verify that one or two SAN ports on each array SP are available to connect to the
blades.
â—† Verify that there are at least four unused disks available in the array (these are the
vault disks). The array must also have an available hot spare disk or another
unused disk that can be configured as a hot spare.
â—† Verify that both SPs are up and functioning, that write cache is enabled, and that
existing LUNs are not failed over.
Access Logix
EMC Access Logixâ„¢ is a licensed software option for a VNX array. If the customer
does not already have Access Logix enabled for an existing array, a license may have
been ordered with the VNX gateway system. If Access Logix is not enabled and a
license was not included in the order, contact the EMC Software Refresh group to
determine entitlement prior to enabling Access Logix.
