2.5.8.2 Data Flow
Print data (electric signals) from the Printer Controller follows the flow shown below
to form a print image.

Reference: Forming two-dimensional print image
A laser beam scans while turning on and off the beam in accordance with the electrical
signal (Video signal: Expresses image data by ups and downs of voltage) to form a line
of dot image. By repeating above mentioned scanning, single-colored image (two-
dimensional dot image) is created. To obtain full-color image, two-dimensional dot
images for four colors are created.
Resolution is defined as follows:
Main scanning direction: dots / inch
Sub scanning direction: scanning lines / inch
