2.5.3 MSI & Regi Assy
2.5.3.1 Part Names and Functions
SOLENOID FEED MSI
Controls the drive from DRIVE ASSY PH to ROLL ASSY FEED MSI.
(Refer to “2.8.3 DRIVE ASSY PH (p70) ”.)
CLUTCH ASSY PH TURN
Transmits the drive from DRIVE ASSY PH to ROLL ASSY TURN.
ROLL ASSY TURN
ROLL ASSY TURN is rotated by DRIVE ASSY PH via CLUTCH ASSY PH TURN,
and transfers papers from MSI and Duplex paper path to CHUTE ASSY REGI.

SENSOR PHOTO (Regi Sensor)
This sensor detects that the leading edge of the paper has reached the CHUTE ASSY
REGI. Measures the length of paper (paper size) when the paper is fed from MSI.
The length that Regi Sensor is turned on is converted to the paper length.
When paper is present, the actuator turns on.
CLUTCH ASSY PH REGI
CLUTCH ASSY PH REGI transmits the drive from DRIVE ASSY MAIN to
ROLL REGI RUBBER, and transfers papers from paper tray, MSI, and Duplex
paper path toward the toner cartridges. (Refer to “2.8.3 DRIVE ASSY PH (p70) ”.)
The timing that Regi Assy transfers paper is adjusted based on the operation time
of CLUTCH ASSY REGI so that toner image on the drum is transferred to the
appropriate position on paper.
SENSOR PHOTO (MSI No Paper Sensor)
Detects presence of paper in MSI according to the position of the actuator.
PWBA OHP LED/PWBA OHP SNR
PWBA OHP LED and PWBA OHP SNR are located in the registration section.
PWBA OHP LED emits light when paper passes, and PWBA OHP SNR receives
the light. When plain paper passes, PWBA OHP SNR cannot receive the light, on
the other hand, it receives the light when transparency passes the path. Thus the
printer detects transparency. PWBA OHP SNR also detects temperature inside the
printer.
