2.5.10.2 Multi-Feed Prevention
Some papers are stuck together in the paper cassette and these papers tend to cause
multi-feeding or paper jams. Nudger Roll transfers paper in between Feed Roll and
Retard Roll. When a sheet of paper is transferred, Feed Roll and Retard Roll rotate to
continue transferring papers. If two or more papers are transferred, Retard Roll
separates the lower paper by friction, Retard Roll stops rotating, and Feed Roll rotates
to transfer the upper paper.
Retard Roll is pressed against Feed Roll by spring pressure, and is controlled by the
torque limiter (CLUTCH FRICTION RET) that is connected to the Retard Roll.

2.5.10.3 Bottom Plate Operation
The lock of GEAR BTM LOCK ONEWAY is released when a paper cassette is
inserted to the main unit.
When a paper cassette is inserted until it stops, gears of RACK BTM LOCK and
GEAR BTM LOCK ONEWAY are disengaged and PLATE ASSY BTM rises up by
spring pressure of SPRING BTM UP.
