EPSON Stylus Photo RX700 Revision A
Maintenance Overview 147
6.1 Overview
This section describes maintenance work to maintain the functions and performance of
Stylus Photo RX700.
6.1.1 Maintenance Error
Ink is used not only for printing but also for cleaning of the head nozzles. The
amount of waste ink is counted.
Once the total amount of the waste ink reaches the predetermined limit, the printer
indicates “Fatal Error” and the waste ink pads should be replaced.
Timing for replacing the Waste Ink pads
When the total amount of the waste ink reaches the predetermined limit, the
printer indicates “Fatal Error”. During repair work, check not only the
overflow counters but also the firmware versions, selection code page and
nozzle check patterns.
If the value of the overflow counter is close to its upper limit, notify your
customer and recommend that the waste ink pads are to be replaced. (If the
waste ink pads are not replaced at that time, there is a possibility that
“Maintenance Error” can occur just after the printer is returned to the
customer.)
On obtaining the consent of the customer, replace the waste ink pads.
Processing after replacement
Reset the overflow counter (protection counter) by the adjustment program.
Note “*”: Varies with printing conditions.
Near End is represented by the value 10% less than the value representing End.
