B.1 Bus node operating modes
B.1.1 Remote I/O operating mode
All functions of the CPX terminal are controlled directly by the
PROFINET-IO controller or a higher-level PLC:
– control of the CPX terminal (or of the CPX valve terminal:
also designated I/O contro l )
– Data exchange betw een controller and modules
– Parameterisation of the mo dules
–Diagnostics.
Controller and CPX terminal communicate via PROFINET. In
doing so, the bus node takes over the connection to
PROFINET and processing of the data exchange:
– protocol implementation
– forwarding of incoming and outgoing data.
PROFINET RT/IRT
(in bo th operating modes)
ThePROFINETreal-timeprotocol(RT)orthePROFINET
isochronous real-time protocol (IRT) is used.
A CPX-CEC cont rol block or CPX-FEC possibly integrated into
the CPX terminal works as a passive module, i.e. without con-
trol function. In this case, the control block may be used to
connect other networks: The control block takes over for-
warding of incoming and outgoing data and thus behaves like
an I/O module.
