5.11 ABOUT BLADE SHARPENING
• After sharpening, reset the blade gap by using a blade shim.
• Shims are available in the following thicknesses:
For optimum performance, keep the blades on the woodchipper sharp.
Only professionals can sharpen blades for the woodchipper.
Blade sharpening requirements
The minimum safe blade size is shown in Figure 62.

• Do not fit more than one shim under each blade.
• Set a gap of 1mm from the inner blade tip to anvil after sharpening.
To do so, place an appropriate shim under the blade.
• The outer blade tip is automatically set, as the anvil is set at an angle to the
blade.
• With a 1 mm gap at the inner blade tip, the outer blade tip should be 3 mm from
the anvil.
