5.18 Setting the Initial Cutting Force
This function is effective in THICK mode, the mode used mainly to cut thick media. When a thick medium
is cut, more time than usual may be required for the blade to reach the base of the medium even if a
suitablecuttingforcehasbeenspecied.Ifthishappens,thecuttingoperationmaystartbeforetheblade
has reached the base and the medium may not be cut through at the start point. Specifying the START
CUTFORCEaddstheSTARTCUTFORCEvaluetothespeciedFORCEvaluethatbecomeseffective
immediately after the pen down operation, thereby enabling the blade to reach the base of the medium in a
shorterperiodoftime.(If,forexample,25hasbeenspeciedfortheFORCEvalueand4isspeciedforthe
START CUT FORCE value, the cutting force after the pen down operation temporarily becomes 29.)
(1) Press the [PAUSE] key to select PAUSE mode.
(2) Press the
[NEXT] key repeatedly until the following menu is displayed.

(4) Press the [F1] key (START FCE) to display the START CUT FORCE setting screen.

Use the [ ] or [ ] key to change the numeric value, and then press the [ENTER] keytoconrmyourselection.
Setting range:1 to 20 (default value: 2), and the screen
(5) Press the [PAUSE] key to cancel PAUSE mode.
This setting is retained in the plotter's internal memory even while the plotter is turned off.
