30EX Vascular Testing Instructions
6. Allow the sensor to equilibrate. Then, press the
PRINT button or the probe button to begin the test.
7. Ask the patient to dorsiex the foot the specied
number of times, following the foot animation on the
LCD. The exercise should be performed forcefully,
especially when lifting the foot upward.
8. After dorsiexing, the patient should relax the foot
and avoid all movement. The test is complete
when the waveform on the LCD returns to the
baseline amplitude.
The Smartdop
®
30EX automatically freezes the
venous reux study waveform. Press the PRINT
button to print the results.
9. To save the data in memory, see 5-3-8 “MEMORY -
STORE” for details.
10. Press the INF/DUMP or probe button (probe button
function must be set to FREEZE or FRZ&PRINT) to
exit FREEZE mode.
11. To rule out supercial venous reux and direct
augmentation to the deep veins, the test can be
repeated by placing a vascular cu above the knee.
Interpreting the Results
A venous rell time of > 20 seconds is considered normal.
Rell time between 18 and 20 seconds is questionable. Repeat the test.
If rell time is less than 18 seconds, a venous condition may exist.

maximum test time of 80 seconds.
