When using USB tethering, your phone's mobile data connection must be turned on. Otherwise, your
phone can't provide Internet access for computers.
If the computer provides a wireless network adapter, you can turn on Portable Wi-Fi hotspot
under Settings > Wireless & Networks > More > Tethering & portable hotspot on your
phone. Then the computer can connect to your phone over Wi-Fi to access the Internet.
Currently, this function is available to computers running Windows.
10.16 Which 4G networks does my phone support? Can I use
such networks outside my country?
4G LTE networks are divided into FDD LTE and TDD LTE networks. Which 4G type is
supported depends on your phone model (for details, see the Huawei's official website and
Vmall). Whether you can use the 4G networks outside your country depends on the
cooperation policies between your local carrier and the foreign carriers. Generally speaking,
you can use your phone for calls while roaming. However, it is recommended that you do not
turn on data roaming because it may incur excessive data usage fees.
10.17 What are the differences between FDD and TDD?
TDD-LTE means Time-division Long Term Evolution, and FDD-LTE means Frequency-Division
Long-Term Evolution. To be simple, TDD-LTE distributes the network resources to different
users at different times, while FDD-LTE distributes the network resources to different users
with different frequencies. TDD-LTE and FDD-LTE both belong to LTE, which is the name
given by the 3GPP for the next generation of telecommunication standards.
10.18 Can I use Honor 7 abroad?
Yes, although this depends on whether your handset supports the 4G frequencies in your
destination country. In addition, carriers in the destination country must allow data roaming
for your SIM card.
10.19 I can only access 3G networks - why can't I access 4G
on my 4G phone?
1. China is still in the process of expanding 4G network coverage. In many regions there may
be no 4G network available or the 4G signal strength may be very weak.
2. Check that you are using the correct SIM card. 4G frequency bands vary between different
carriers. China Unicom users can't access China Mobile 4G networks, and vice versa.
3. Check your settings: Go to Settings > More > Mobile Networks > Preferred network
type and select WCDMA/GSM auto.
