Removing a thermal kit (hot-swap fan)
Use this information to remove a thermal kit (hot-swap fan).
About this task
Attention: To ensure proper server operation, replace a failed hot-swap fan
within 30 seconds.
To remove a hot-swap-fan, complete the following steps:
Procedure
1. Read the safety information that begins on “Safety” on page vii and
“Installation guidelines” on page 122.
2. Remove the cover (see “Removing the cover” on page 126).
3. Grasp the orange fan tabs on both ends of the fan and slowly lift it out of the
chassis.
Results
If you are instructed to return the fan, follow all of the packaging instructions, and
use any packaging materials for shipping that are supplied to you.
