3 Lift valve housing 2 straight up. If done carefully the
pins 20, springs 21, balance ring assembly 22, and
valve 25 will remain on the valve plate 26.
4 Carefully remove ‘O’ ring 3 from the valve housing.
5 Remove shuttle valve retaining plug 4 with ‘O’ ring 5
from valve housing.
6 Extract dash pot 6, spring 7, poppet 8, piston 9,
poppet 10, spring 11 and dash pot 12.
7 If necessary to replace ‘O’ ring 13, remove end plug
14 by gently tapping with a small drift through the
shuttle valve bore.
8 Remove retaining plug 15 and extract relief valve
spring 16 and poppet 17. Take care not to lose shims
18. Remove ‘O’ ring 19 from the retaining plug.
9 Remove 2 pins 20 and 2 springs 21 from the balance
ring assembly.
10 Remove balance ring assembly 22.
11 Remove inner 23 and outer 24 face seals from the
balance ring.
12 Remove valve 25 and valve plate 26.
13 Remove ’O’ ring 27 from the valve plate.
14 Remove valve drive 28.
15 Remove Geroler 29. Be sure to retain the rollers in the
outer ring if they are loose.
16 Remove splined drive 30.
17 Remove ’O’ ring 31 from wear plate 32.
18 Remove wear plate 32.
19 Remove shaft face seal 33 from the wear plate.
20 Remove ’O’ ring 36 from bearing housing 35.
21 It may be necessary to use a press to remove the
shaft and bearing assembly 34 from the bearing
housing.
22 Use a small screwdriver to remove shaft seal 37,
back-up washer 38 and exclusion seal 39 from the
bearing housing. Do not damage the bore of the
housing.
Note: Note: Individual parts of the shaft and bearing
assembly are not sold separately. Replace as a unit.
Assembly
Check all mating surfaces. Replace any parts that have
scratches or burrs that could cause leakage. Clean all
metal parts in clean solvent. Blow dry with air. Do not wipe
dry with cloth or paper towel because lint or other matter
can get in the hydraulic system and cause damage. Do not
use a coarse grit or try to file or grind these parts. Check
the chamfered area of the shaft for burrs, nicks or sharp
edges that can damage the seals when reassembling the
bearing housing.
Note: Note: Lubricate all seals (prior to installation) with
petroleum jelly. Use new seals when assembling.
1 Use a press to install exclusion seal 39 in the outer
bore of bearing housing 35. Lip of seal must face
outward. If a press is not available use a plastic or
rubber hammer, being careful not to damage or cock
the seal in the bore.
2 Place back-up washer 38 into seal bore. Press shaft
seal 37 into seal bore of the housing.
