Assembly
Before assembling, make sure all parts are clean and free
from rust, particularly the piston sealing area and the
grooves.
Make sure the brake housing has proper chamfers around
the mounting screw holes

1 Coat, with anti-oxidising grease, the grooves, the top
of the brake piston, the spring washer, the snap ring
and the piston seal area of the brake housing.
2 Check there is no old sealant on the mating faces of
the cover and brake housing. Scrape off any residue
with a blade. DO NOT file or emery the mating
surface as the original surface finish must be
maintained

3 Wipe the mating faces with a lint free cloth, stroking
from the inside to the outside.
4 Degrease the mating faces using isopropyl alcohol.
After degreasing do not touch the surface with hands
or fingers.
5 Using a clean brush apply a thin film of JCB Activator
on the part of the cover surface which will be in
contact with the brake housing. DO NOT apply any
activator on the shaft. Wait 2 minutes
