3.1 Testing Summary
3.1.2 Testing Frequency
All tests contained in this section are to be carried out a) initially upon installation prior to patient examination, b) an-
nually thereafter, c) after any major repair, upgrade, or modication on a component of the imaging chain which may
aect the performance to be tested, and d) when problems are suspected.
Some or all of the tests in this section may be required as part of a Mammography Equipment Evaluation (MEE) as
directed by MQSA and recommended by ACR.
Examples of major changes or repairs that would call for an MEE include, but are not limited to:
• Replacement of such component of a mammography X-ray unit as X-ray tube, collimator, lter, AEC or AEC sen-
sor.
• Replacement of such part of the CR system as optical unit, power supplies, system control board, or A/D board.
