3.11 Ghost Image Evaluation
3.11.1 Test Objective
To ensure that images being produced from the reader are free of any latent image and are fully erased following an
erasure performed during normal reading.
3.11.2 Frequency
• Initially before patients are imaged
• ANNUALLY
• Whenever incomplete erasure is suspected
3.11.3 Required Equipment
• REGIUS cassette
• RMI-156 Phantom
• 2cm of PMMA (acrylic) phantom
3.11.4 Procedure

Using the same test patient from the 3.10 Dark Noise test select the Erase 1 exam tag.

Place the RMI-156 phantom onto the breast support table.
• The label of the RMI phantom should always be facing the chest wall.

Expose the cassette using 28kVp 100mAs and process the cassette.
