3.13.2 Thickness Tracking

Test Objective
To evaluate the thickness tracking performance of the Automatic Exposure Control (AEC) system.

Frequency
• Initially before patients are imaged
• ANNUALLY
• As part of an MEE
z
Required Equipment
• 2, 4, and 6 cm of PMMA (acrylic) phantom
• Al sheet (Thickness: 0.2 mm, Size: 60 mm × 60 mm or larger)
• Imaging cassette

Procedure (for CS-3)

Place PMMA (acrylic) phantom of thickness 2 cm on the breast support table.

Position the compression paddle as close as possible to the phantom surface.

Move the AEC sensor to its most forward position (closest to the chest side).
