3.3 Tube Voltage Measurement and Reproducibility
3.3.1 Test Objective
To ensure the accuracy and reproducibility of the displayed tube voltage of the generator.
3.3.2 Frequency
• Initially at installation of the mammography X-ray unit
• ANNUALLY
• As part of an MEE
3.3.3 Required Equipment
• Calibrated kVp meter
3.3.4 Procedure

Set the kVp meter to the following parameters:
• Mammography
• With paddle
• Filtration type: based upon mammography X-ray unit (In most cases it will be Mo/Mo for Molybdenum target/
lter)

Set rst exposure at lowest kVp setting on the mammography X-ray unit.

Place the detector of the dose meter on the breast support table centered 4 cm from the chest
wall. Lower the paddle until it makes contact.
