3.2 Physical Inspection
3.2.1 Test Objective
To ensure the overall safety and mechanical stability of the Xpress Digital Mammography System.
3.2.2 Frequency
• Initially at installation
• ANNUALLY
• As part of an MEE

See "Mammography Quality Control Manual" (ACR, 1999) Medical Physicist section procedure 1.
3.2.4 Procedure
Follow the procedures referenced in the "Mammography Quality Control Manual" (ACR, 1999) Medical Physicist sec-
tion procedure 1.
3.2.5 Performance Criteria and Corrective Action
Performance Criteria: The unit is stable. All mechanical movements should be smooth and normal. Operator and
patient safety are preserved during normal operation. All lights, indicators, and audio signals function properly. No er-
rors are displayed on the unit. Please refer to manufacturer's operation/service manual for guidance when evaluating
the Mammography X-ray unit physical inspection.
Corrective Action: Restart the Xpress Digital Mammography System and repeat the evaluation. If problems persist
reference the appropriate user manuals to determine the solution to the particular error condition. Contact your ser-
vice representative if problems are unresolved.
The source of the problem shall be identied and corrective action shall be taken within 30 days of the test date. Pa-
tient examination may continue during this period.
3.2.6 Documentation
Record the results of the survey in the Table MP-1 (Physical Inspection) and the Table MP-S (MEDICAL PHYSI-
CIST'S MAMMOGRAPHY QC TEST SUMMARY) or use the worksheets and forms found in the "Mammography
Quality Control Manual" (ACR, 1999) Medical Physicist section procedure 1.
