• This test is sensitive to variations in beam quality (kVp, target and lter material). Use an AEC mode that varies only mAs,
and does not allow variations in kVp, target and lter material.
• This test is also sensitive to variations in the breast support and anti-scatter grid.

• The SNR value can be calculated by using a measurement tool of a diagnostic review workstation, instead of using the User
tool of REGIUS Console CS-3/CS-7. In that case, process the cassettes under the SNR-WS exam tag and send the image
to the diagnostic review workstation.

3.18.6 Performance Criteria and Corrective Action
Performance Criteria: The SNR variation must be within +/-15%.
Corrective Action: Ensure all images evaluated were taken in the same mode under the same X-ray conditions.
Erase all cassettes and repeat the test taking care that cassettes not intended for direct exposure are stored in an
area not subject to scatter radiation.
If a particular cassette and plate pair produces a value which falls far outside the performance criteria, remove that
pair and repeat the test. If the new results pass the test, patient examination may continue without using that cas-
sette and plate pair.
The source of the problem shall be identied and corrective action shall be taken within 30 days of the test date. Pa-
tient examination may continue during this period.
