3.13 AEC Performance Checks
5
The detector should be the same height as the top of the RMI phantom.
6
Make the exposure with 28 kVp in AEC mode.
7
Process the cassettes in the REGIUS Model 190/210/110HQ.
8
Note the mAs and mR of the image.
9
Repeat the process, from Step 1 through Step 8, three more times. Calculate the average
(mean) and the standard deviation of the four measurements and record them in the Table MP-
10 (CNR).

Performance Criteria and Corrective Action
Performance Criteria: Calculate the coecient of variation (CV) using the following formula. SD and Av stands for the
standard deviation and the average.
• CV = (SD / Av) × 100%
The coecient of variation should be ≤ 5% for mAs.
Corrective Action: If the test results fall outside of these criteria, the test should be repeated.
If the problem remains, the source of the problem should be identied and corrective action shall be taken on the
component(s) that caused the failure within 30 days of the test date.
Patient examination may continue during this period.
