Hydraulic Tow Point CylinderHydraulic Tow Point Cylinder
The hydraulic tow point cylinder option provides the
means of adjusting the tow point from the operator
station in AUTO mode. The hydraulic tow point cylinders
offer quick and easy height adjustments, and integrates
with the TopCon sonic grade and slope automation
system. (Figure 4-60)

controllers send signals
to the screed to precisely
maintain mat thickness
and slope as you pave.
Sonic trackers continuously measure the elevation over
the surface, automatically averaging and adjusting the
toe point cylinder on the paver. The LCD digital display
is easy to see regardless of light conditions.
Choose from one of three options: Sonic Grade Control
(one side); Dual Grade Control or Dual Grade Control
and Slope (both Topcon P-32 systems). The dual
grade controls automatically maintain a set depth on
both ends of the screed. The Dual Grade and Slope
controls maintain a set depth on one end of the screed
and as et slope to the other end.
Most states require this technology for state road paving
jobs to ensure smoothness and continuity on roadways.
The left and right hydraulic tow
point cylinders can be operated
in AUTO mode from the main
control panel. Use the Tow Up
(thicker asphalt mat) and Tow
Down (thinner asphalt mat) left
and right buttons to control the
hydraulic tow cylinders in AUTO
mode.
• Press and hold the corresponding left or right Tow
Up (thicker asphalt mat) or Two Down (thinner
asphalt mat) buttons.
• When operating in AUTO mode, the tow points are
paused when paver is not traveling forward.
NOTE: Tow point cylinders will not function manually
when the is in the AUTO mode or when the
grade/slope control on the control panel is
set to AUTO.
