Flight Screws Flight Screws
The screed operator can use the ight screw for making
minor adjustments to mat thickness as needed while
paving. (Figure 4-49)

You must be operating tow point cylinders in the manual
mode when using the ight screw:
1. Before paving, refer to the screed elevation gauge.
(Figure 4-49)
2. Raise or lower the screed until the cable rod end is
ush with “0”on the indicator decal.
3. Slowly move both joysticks forward.
4. Use the Thicker/Thinner ight screw on both sides
of the screed to adjust mat thickness as you pave.
5. While paving, check the mat thickness regularly
and make minor screed adjustments using the ight
screw as needed.
Set the Screed and End GatesSet the Screed and End Gates
The screed extension should be heated before making
any adjustments using the wrench provided. The main
screed features ight screws and the crown and valley
mechanism. It’s screed extensions, one on each side,
feature end gates with end gate depth screws and tilt
screws, and AOA (Angle of Attack) adjusters for even
more screed extension control. (Figure 4-50)
When screed components are adjusted correctly,
pressure on the rear edge of the extended screed is the
same as the rear edge of the main screed, resulting in a
smooth mat the length of the screed.

by pressing and holding the
corresponding buttons on the
lower right keypad on the control
panel:
• Press and hold the corresponding button to raise
() or lower () the screed.
• The screed lower () button also controls oating
the screed:
• Placing the joysticks into neutral moves into
screed hold, and oat resumes when joysticks
are returned to the forward position.
• If the paver is moving forward, then stops,
screed oat is paused (the center LED light
illuminates when paused). Screed oat
resumes when joysticks are returned to the
forward position.
