COMPONENTS OVERVIEW
This section describes the major components for the
LeeBoy 5300B Compact Paver. Become familiar with
these components before operating the machine.
Operator PlatformOperator Platform
The operator platform allows easy and convenient
access for controls for all paver functions. The paver
can be operated from the left or right side depending
upon which side the sliding control panel is positioned
for the working conditions. The control panel also
features a vandalism cover for security and protection of
its electronic components.
The innovative control panel includes push-button
keypad controls for paving functions. Operators can
choose paving functions at a glance of paving function
symbols on four control panel keypads, which also
illuminates to show function status.
The Plus+ 1® CAN bus system is the brains behind
paver controls. The main control panel also features
the DM430 digital display controller. The display’s
wide-angle, anti-glare screen automatically adjusts
brightness for sunlight or darker settings. The
operator can set the desired paving speed in the
display controller and the automated system will pave
consistently throughout the day.
EngineEngine
The LeeBoy Model
5300B Compact Paver is
equipped with a Kubota,
64.4 HP diesel engine,
which is mounted near
the center of the paver
and accessible through
several access doors on
the engine cover.
A fuel lift pump mounted
to the right side of the engine draws diesel fuel from the
fuel tank, which is also mounted on the right side of the
engine compartment.
The air cleaner is mounted under the hood, which
removes ne particles such as dust, sand, chaff and
lint from the air. As air is taken into the air cleaner
assembly, the cyclone action deposits some of the ne
particles in the evacuator that is mounted on the bottom
of the air cleaner housing. The evacuator is held closed
during engine operation by suction. When the engine
is shut off, the weight of the debris opens rubber aps,
allowing the debris to fall out. These aps can also be
squeezed open for cleaning.
The fuel lter removes contaminants from diesel fuel
before it ows into the injection pump where it is injected
into the engine combustion chamber.
Refer to the Engine Operator’s Manual accompanying
your paver for additional engine information.
Hydraulic SystemHydraulic System
Separate pumps for the various functions enhance the
paver’s hydraulic power. The hydraulic system includes
four hydraulic pumps driven by the engine: 1) Left Drive
Pump; 2) Right Drive Pump; 3) Load Sense Pump and; 4)
Auxiliary/Charge Pump. Valves regulate the directional,
pressure and uid ow throughout the hydraulic system
while the oil cooler fans with bypass improve reliability.
Track SystemTrack System
The paver drive system contains two heavy-duty torque
hubs that propel the hydrostatically-powered, self-
cleaning tracks with self-adjusting front idlers. Two-
speed motors power tough planetary drives for smooth
operation.
