The asphalt material moves from the auger to the Under
Auger Material Cut-Off, which control asphalt ow to the
screed and extensions. (Figure 4-45) Cut-off can open
to increase asphalt ow, or close to decrease ow when
making narrow passes at the beginning and ending of
each pass or pull. Proper use of the cut-off prevents
spillage and minimizes clean-up.
NOTE: To prevent excessive handwork, turn off the
conveyors and close the cut-off about three feet from
the end of a pull to prevent excessive handwork.
NOTE: If the paver is put into reverse, the cut-off will
automatically close
The Under Auger Material Cut-Off can be operated via
the main control panel and the corresponding active
side on the screed control keypad.
Press and hold the Cut-Off Open button on the lower left
keypad to open the Under Auger Material
Cut-Off.
Press and hold the Cut-Off Close button
on the lower left keypad to close the
Under Auger Material Cut-off.
Augers and Sonic Auger SensorAugers and Sonic Auger Sensor
The independent augers, one on each side of the paver,
push material through the under auger material cut-off
to the screed. The augers can be operated in manual
(default) or AUTO (automatic) mode.
NOTE: The augers are not needed when paving under
four-feet wide.
• You must connect the sonic auger sensor system
to operate in AUTO mode.
Selecting left or right manual/AUTO on the
control pane lower left keypad turns on
the auger. Arrow direction on the keypad
symbol indicates left or right auger.
• Press corresponding left or right
button once for manual mode.
• Press and hold button for AUTO
mode after connecting the sonic
auger system. The center blue light
illuminates when material reaches the
set material height.
