Milled Cut PavingMilled Cut Paving
The LeeBoy 5300B Compact Paver is ideal for
milled-cut paving. Pavement milling is the process
of removing the top layer from existing pavement to
provide a relatively smooth surface upon which to
pave, commonly used to remove a distressed surface
layer. An additional “slim-line” end gate is included with
the LeeBoy 5300B specically for milled-cut paving
projects.
If the sonic auger sensor is installed,
be sure to detach it before replacing the end gate.
Figure 4-57. Slim-Line End Gate
To attach the slim-line end gate:
1. Unscrew the tile adjuster as far as it will go. (Figure
5-57)
2. Remove the lower pivot bolt.
3. Remove the standard end gate and replace with the
slim-line end gate.
4. Replace the pivot bolt and screw tilt adjuster back
into place.
UNLOADING AND LOADING
Ensure the transport trailer has the capacity to carry
the paver’s weight. Park the trailer in a clear, level area
when loading or unloading the machine.
ALWAYS position an assistant to be a
ground guide when loading and unloading the paver.
Work slowly and carefully to avoid
accidents. Keep the loading area clear.
ALWAYS back the paver up loading
ramp with the screed end rst. ALWAYS be alert to
uneven surfaces and the potential reactions when
transferring the paver from surface to surface.
Serious injury or even death can result.
Use extra caution steering when
loading and unloading the paver as slight steering
changes on ramps and trailers can cause the
machine to fall off the ramp or transport trailer.
Serious injury or even death can result.
To prevent damage to the
undercarriage and throughout the paver, reduce
traveling speed before the paver tracks come into
contact with loading ramps or any abrupt change
in the surface. The track drive sprocket or other
components can be damaged by excessive shock.
DO NOT allow the screed to strike the
ramp as this can damage bearings on the thickness
control screws or welds on the leveling arms. A
longer ramp to reduce the loading angle may be
needed.
Never move the paver in reverse while
the cut-off are open.
