Engine Maintenance
The LeeBoy 8520C Conveyor Paver features the latest
in engine technology. Tier 4 engines comply with emis-
sion requirements established by the U.S. Environmental
Protection Agency (EPA) to reduce diesel particulate
matter (DPM) and other toxins released into the air.
Advanced emission-control devices and low-sulfur fuel
requirements--only Ultra-Low Sulfur Diesel (ULSD) can
be used in these engines--combine with new after-treat-
ment methods such as Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR)
and Diesel Particulate Filters (DPF). These general
maintenance procedures are most often required for the
engine. Refer to the Engine Operator’s Manual for more
specic maintenance information and procedures.
You can access the engine and other components via
the access panel in the hopper (Figure 5-17) or via
the operator platform. Some components can also be
reached from either side of the machine.
Check Engine Lubrication OilCheck Engine Lubrication Oil
The engine lubrication oil must be kept at a level above
the ADD mark, but not above the FULL mark, on the
engine lubrication oil dipstick. (Figure 5-16) Access
the engine through the front access panel in the hopper.
DO NOT check the oil while the engine
is running. Hot oil can spew and cause serious
personal injury.
Engine oil should be API classication CJ-4. Change the
type of oil according to the ambient temperature:
